If you want to be in thick of the party this is your hotel. Decent staff, good facilities, location. Only con I really seen was if you are a light sleeper it may not be the best stay for you. Also no elevator.

The WiFi is free but doesn’t work half the time or only for minutes at a time. I had to leave my room an stand next to the booster by the elevator to connect and stay connected. The room was 3 star except no elevator. The location was just two blocks off Walking Street. The breakfast was only fair and was served in the adjacent hotel. I would probably stay elsewhere because of the annoying WiFi problem.

OK, there were 2 things that prevent this place from being 5 star in terms of a TA rating. So please do read to the bottom............... 1. no lift, it's a walk up, so being on the 2nd (3rd if you count American style) meant a suitcase in each arm and a making my way up.....not so great when I have already had knee operation #5 2. The pool (roof top, level 5) had to also be accessed by the stairs, and with the good view it would have been great, except it was so dirty we were not game to get in it. Lots of floating bits, algae perhaps? But these 2 things aside, it was a great motel, great price, great service, clean and comfortable rooms, and with average breakfast supplied next door. Asking for a ground floor room is the key to this being the stand out value in this area, and on that, you have to remember it is in the absolute heart of the party area, so 2 go-go clubs are literally across the narrow street and the Walking Street is 40 metres away. Despite this it was quiet.

Got surprised with 300b housekeeping charge as i was rushing to airport. Staff yells at you when you ask them to explain. Tourists are just walking ATMs. Wifi was unreliable. Other than that, the room is quite nice.

The W14 is the newer offspring of the run down wreck next door (Grand Hotel). It's nicely designed and laid out which i really liked but there are better alternatives. You're essentially paying a x2 premium for being right in the walking street nightlife - which I prefer as it's a 5 min stumble from insomnia. The breakfast is ok. Generous is not a word which would be associated it with like professional would never be used to describe ANY of the staff (except the cleaner). Check in was at 2pm. We arrived at 2:30pm and were told that the room was not ready and to come back in an hour. Not the end of the world so we went for a massage, returned at 4pm and the room was ready but the receptionist said it was an extra 300B because the room we booked is no longer available and they were going to upgrade us. This is the 2nd time we're staying here...glutton for punishment as the first time was marginally better. I explained to the receptionist very politely and calmly that i would like to speak to the manager. She called the manager, explained that a farang was causing trouble and didnt want to pay 300B extra for a better room. When she got off the phone she said the manager is busy. I explained to her that she had not explained the situation to the manager as we are not requesting an upgrade but that the room was not availble. She was stunned that i had understood the conversation, mumbled something and then gave us the room key...same Superior King room i had booked and stayed in last time! It wasnt an upgrade at all!!! LoL The rooms are quite small but well laid out and whist it's still new it is a comfortable stay. The parent hotel group runs the Grand Hotel next door where we have stayed a few times over the years and that was really scruffy two years ago so its probably resembling a crack house now unless theyve finally refurbed it. The winner about the W14 is the location. It's less than a minute to walk to Walking Street but the hotel is on a very quiet soi. After one of the nights out, we returned back around 5am and the night receptionist was sound asleep. We took some movenpick icecream from the reception fridge and left a note saying 2x icecream for room 11. When we checked out at the end of the week, we had a bill for 4x icecream (instead of 2). It was the a different receptionist to the delight who had checked us in but this one was also competing to be crowned surliest person in pattaya! 25 mins to sort out the bill. It wasnt expensive but it's the priniple of the matter. Was the first time that I've had my ice cream bill padded!!! On a couple of occassions through the week the wifi wasnt working. This is quite common in Thailand so this doesnt bother us but may be a requirement for any folks who are hoping to make scheduled video calls or do the occasional work email. ...once was a mistake...returning was stupid. Wont be returning.
